The President who was speaking at the commemoration of International Labour Day in Namutumba district said these people are interfering with the future of Uganda by delaying jobs and wealth creation promised by investors.
He said bribery and delayed decision-making raise the cost of doing business in Uganda.
“We have got two enemies whom I am going fight and you are going to hear the fight. These are corrupt politicians and civil servants,” the President said.
“These are the ones interfering with your future. These are the ones disturbing the investors, asking for bribes, and delaying decisions,” Museveni talked tough.
The President revealed he is going to set up another unit in his office where the investors can ring directly if anybody asks them for a bribe or delays decision-making.
Meanwhile, the President witnessed the award of medals to 64 persons – 16 female and 48 male.
Among the awards approved by the president included the Distinguished Order of the Nile First Class Grand Commander, the Distinguished Order of the Crested Crane Fourth Class Officer, the Nalubaale Medal, the Masaaba Medal, the National Independence Medal Diamond Jubilee and the Long Service Gold 30 Years Plus Police Medal.
Some of the participants who received the awards duly considered by the Presidential Awards Committee included Prof. Wasswa Balunywa, the Principal of Makerere University Business School, Dr. Pius Bigirimaana, the Permanent Secretary of Judiciary and Prof. Enos Kiremire among others.
Presenting the awards at the Labor Day celebrations, Maj. Gen. George Igumba highlighted that the Distinguished Order of the Nile First Class Grand Commander involved 2 persons, the Distinguished Order of the Crested Crane Fourth Class Officer 4 persons, Nalubaale Medal 2, Masaaba Star Medal 1, National Independence Medal Diamond Jubilee 50 and the Long Service Gold 30 Years Plus Police Medal 5 persons.
