Date for Museveni’s swearing-in ceremony set
The event will be held under the theme, "Protecting the Gains, Making a Qualitative Leap into High Middle-Income Status.”
Uganda Media Centre has announced that President Yoweri Museveni will be sworn in for a new term on May 12, 2026, following his recent election victory.
According to a special announcement issued by the government communications body, the inauguration ceremony will take place at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala.
The event will be held under the theme, “Protecting the Gains, Making a Qualitative Leap into High Middle-Income Status.”
The statement indicates that the ceremony is expected to attract a wide range of dignitaries from across the globe, signaling the significance of the occasion on Uganda’s political calendar.
Preparations for the event are already underway, led by the National Organising Committee chaired by Yunus Kakande, the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the President. The committee is tasked with coordinating logistics and ensuring a smooth ceremony.
The announcement was signed by Alan Kasujja, Executive Director of the Uganda Media Centre.
Museveni, who has been in power since 1986, is set to extend his long-standing leadership as Uganda continues to pursue its development agenda, with the upcoming term expected to focus on economic transformation and consolidation of previous gains.
