Eden Mission urges Kisoro men to focus on work as it supports SACCOs
Speaking during the handover of financial support to Kagano and Chungu villages, Gahuriro said excessive political debates in drinking places, especially during working hours, were affecting household productivity and slowing development in communities.

Eden Mission Executive Director Rwego Kenneth Gahuriro has urged men in Kanaba Sub-county, Kisoro District, to reduce time spent in bars discussing politics and instead focus on productive work and supporting their families.
Speaking during the handover of financial support to Kagano and Chungu villages, Gahuriro said excessive political debates in drinking places, especially during working hours, were affecting household productivity and slowing development in communities.
He encouraged men to prioritise income-generating activities, support their spouses, and actively participate in improving the welfare of their families and communities.
“Men should spend more time working and building their homes rather than wasting productive hours in bars discussing politics,” Gahuriro said.
The remarks came as Eden Mission donated millions of shillings to support community savings groups aimed at improving household incomes in Kisoro District.
The organisation provided UGX 57.3 million to two savings and Credit Cooperative Organizations (SACCOs) in Murora Sub-county, with the funds serving as start-up capital to help families engage in economic activities.
The donation was handed over during a ceremony attended by community members and local leaders, who welcomed the initiative as a boost to financial inclusion and livelihood improvement.
Gahuriro said the support was intended to empower couples to start and expand small businesses, strengthen financial stability, and improve the living standards of families.
He added that supporting households through access to capital was key to promoting sustainable development and reducing poverty at the community level.
