A police task team from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Kampala Metropolitan Area is hunting for Charles Olim, commonly known as Sipapa, for participating in an alleged aggravated robbery.

The said robbery occurred on the night of 28th – 29th of August 2022 when a South Sudanese national Jacob Arock was robbed at his home in Kawuku zone in Bbunga, a flashy Kampala suburb.

According to police in Kabalagala, some of the property stolen was recovered using a signal from an iPhone mobile phone.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga says a group of thugs who invaded the home of Jacob Arock applied suspected chloroform to the occupants.

Upon accessing entry into the house, they made off with cash amounting to $429, 000 (about Shs1, 637, 007, 382), 4 iPhones, a Dell laptop, gold jewelry and a 65-inch Samsung TV among others.

Enanga says during the subsequent investigations carried out by police detectives, a signal from one of the stolen phones was located in a home, situated in Kityo close-Buwate, Kira division.

After carrying out interrogations on the occupants of the house, police confirmed that it belonged to Charles Olim, commonly known as Sipapa, who had travelled to Tororo at the moment of the search.

The police task team searched and later recovered stolen items which included $70,000 out of the $429,000 which had earlier been stolen.

Other items recovered include 4 laptops, 3 iPhones, gold jewelry which belonged to the wife of Arock, 1 iPhone charger, and 2 registration number plates UBG 025B and UBA 023U.

Also recovered was an assortment of car accessories which included 2 amplifiers, 12 headlights, 3 radiators and 2 cars which had been re-sprayed from their original colours.

Police arrested four suspects including Nakiyimba Shamirah the wife to Sipapa.  She had concealed the $70,000 and the iPhones which were found under her bed.

Enanga also noted that upon the withdrawal of the military personnel who were moving with Sipapa, he later managed to hire private bouncers to move with him.

Police have asked members of the general public or anyone who may have information about the whereabouts of Sipapa to provide information to the nearest police station.
