Police IGP asks retiring officers to continue doing good for public
Ochola continually thanked the retired officers for the services they rendered to the public saying that the challenges they experienced were adequate to prepare them for greater challenges ahead.
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Martin Okoth Ochola has called upon retired police officers to always see themselves as good emissaries of the Uganda Police Force and never allow any selfish interest to blemish the integrity and wisdom they have nurtured over the years in the great disciplinary institution.
Ochola’s counsel was made officiating at the official sendoff of 38 retiring police officers at their headquarters in Naguru on Friday. Among the notable retirees were AIGP Edward Ochom, AIGP Andrew Sorowen and AIGP Asan Kasingye,
“I strongly believe that going by your antecedents and the manner you have conducted yourselves over the years in service, and, the skill and knowledge acquired, you surely remain our mirrors and ambassadors wherever you will be,” he noted.
Ochola continually thanked the retired officers for the services they rendered to the public saying that the challenges they experienced were adequate to prepare them for greater challenges ahead.
“Notably, our officers are sustained in this exceedingly challenging effort by their families and their communities, all of who, without complaints, move from station to station, each time making the new unit a family, the house a home, and the neighbourhood a community,” he highlighted.
After many years of strenuous police duties, IGP Ochola said, the retired officers are now relieved from the compulsory strains with honour and dignity, and it is for this reason that the men and women still in uniform, should look at them with admiration and gratitude for a job well done.
With very many officers who join the force, Ochola said, few can attend such functions as a result of deaths, desertion, voluntary resignation, and disciplinary or criminal misconducts that lead them to prison.
