Activist Ivan Mwijukye reportedly missing after alleged abduction in Mpigi

According to his friends, the incident happened at night as Mwijukye was travelling from Mbarara, where he had reportedly gone into hiding. They claim he had been advised to leave hiding, board a bus heading to Kampala, and surrender himself to authorities in Entebbe.

Reports indicate that activist Ivan Mwijukye was allegedly picked up by unidentified security operatives in Mpigi on September 3, 2026, and taken to an unknown location.

According to his friends, the incident happened at night as Mwijukye was travelling from Mbarara, where he had reportedly gone into hiding. They claim he had been advised to leave hiding, board a bus heading to Kampala, and surrender himself to authorities in Entebbe.

The reports further allege that security operatives reached his friend’s residence shortly after he had left, questioned the friend, and later intercepted the bus he was travelling on. Mwijukye was reportedly ordered to get off the bus before being taken away.

His family, including his mother from Ibanda, has appealed for help in tracing his whereabouts. Friends have also called on authorities to intervene and provide information about his location.

No official statement has yet been issued by security agencies regarding the allegations.
