Anti-Besigye FDC to conduct grassroots elections

For both the positions of Youth League Chairperson and Women League Chairperson, Toterebuka said the Party already nominated candidates, and the rest shall be nominated on Wednesday October 18, 2023.

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) will organize elections for National Women League Executive and National Youth League Executive on October 19, 2023.

This was revealed by FDC Chief Electoral Commissioner Boniface Bamwenda Toterebuka while he addressed the press in Najjanankumbi on Monday, October 16,2023.

The FDC NEC elections were conducted on 6th October at Patidar Samaj Sports Ground; Lugogo – Kampala. The Party President and the new NEC were elected for a five year term till 2028.

According to Toterebuka, the categories of voters invited for this youth election are the District Youth Chairperson, District Youth Vice Chairperson, 20 Institutional Chairpersons, and current Youth Executive leaders.

“All those willing to contest as candidates must not exceed 30 years of age. All those coming for these elections must carry with them their National Identity Cards or else they risk not taking part in the Youth Elections,” he said.

He noted that 284 voters are expected to elect the National Youth Executive Committee.

On the other hand, Toterebuka revealed that the categories of voters invited for election are, District Women Chairperson, District Women Secretary, and current Women Executive leaders.

“All those coming for these elections must carry with them their National Identity Cards or else they risk not taking part in the Women Elections,” he stated.

The FDC expects 258 voters to elect the National Women League Executive Committee.

Candidates nominated for Youth Chairperson are; Abeneitwe Manful, Adepo Francis, Nakabira Swabrah, Ocieng Boniface, Okori Brian and Okot Fredrick Nauries.

Candidates nominated for Women League Chairperson are Achan Hellen and Kisakye Agnes.

He further said the Commission will organize elections for the PWDs on Wednesday, October 25, 2023.

The district PWDs Chairperson and District Vice Chairperson will converge to elect their Secretaries for PWDs.
