Assassins are trailing me, worried Anita Among tells Parliament

The Speaker of Parliament, Anita Annet Among Thursday told Members of Parliament (MPs) that she has received a report indicating that assassins are trailing her and want to kill her. She said he has shared the report with the Leader of Opposition (LoP), Mathias Mpuuga.

“Whoever thinks he/she is going to assassinate Anita, I was put in this chair by God; if anybody wants, I have my village to go to; I will serve until I get tired,” the Speaker claimed without delving further into details.

The Speaker’s claim came after Katikamu South MP, Hassan Kirumira, asked the government to explain the circumstances under which some Ugandans are being abducted, arrested and others assassinated.

Kirumira raised a matter concerning the abduction and kidnap of Jakana Nadduli the son of former Minister Abdul Nadduli. He has asked that Nadduli be given the opportunity to see the son.

“These matters of abductions really pain as citizens of this country. The press reports are now averse with some reports of abductions, the drones are back, people are being abducted and their places of detention are not known,” chipped in Winfred Niwagaba, MP Ndorwa East.

“Sincerely what does the NRM government want with citizens of Uganda,” he asked.

In that spirit, the Speaker has directed the Prime Minister to investigate & present a report to Parliament on the circumstances under which some Ugandans are being abducted, arrested & others assassinated.
