BakigaNation to light up Kampala with traditional Christmas experience
The festival, themed Nohiri Yeitu (Our Christmas), promises to rekindle the traditional Kikiga Christmas spirit, bringing together community, music, food, storytelling, and family-friendly fun.
Kampala is set to experience a vibrant cultural celebration as BakigaNation unveils the latest edition of its signature Christmas festival, Rukundo Egumeho – Nohiri Yeitu, scheduled for Sunday, 14th December 2025, at Millennium Park, Lugogo.
The festival, themed Nohiri Yeitu (Our Christmas), promises to rekindle the traditional Kikiga Christmas spirit, bringing together community, music, food, storytelling, and family-friendly fun.
According to BakigaNation, the event is designed to recreate the warmth and nostalgia of Christmas in Kigezi. “This is the Christmas of our childhood… the drums, the carols, the stories, the community. We’re bringing it home to Kampala,” the team said.
Star-Studded Lineup & Cultural Showcase
One of the festival’s major highlights will be the BakigaNation Mass Choir, set to perform Christmas carols in a distinct Kikiga style. The event will also feature performances from celebrated cultural and contemporary artists including Florence Musimenta, Lillian Nabaasa, Norman Shaaka, Lady Sarah, TPaul and The BakigaNation Cultural Troupe.
In a special appearance, award-winning artist Sheebah Karungi will join the celebration as the guest performer, blending mainstream entertainment with rich Bakiga cultural expressions.
Cultural Village & Family Activities
This edition introduces a full Christmas cultural village, a first-of-its-kind installation that will offer traditional storytelling, Father Christmas appearances, Christmas giveaways, art, craft, and food exhibitions, kids’ activities and a community-centered cultural experience.
Organizers describe the festival as “a return to roots, a celebration of identity, and a moment for families, friends, and communities to reconnect.”
The 2025 festival is backed by a strong list of sponsors and partners, including Pilsner Lager, Roke Telkom, Tents 4 U, Pacific Events, Sanyuka TV, AfroMobile, Next Music, Capital Radio, and Black.
With its cultural richness, star-studded performances, and family-focused activities, the festival is expected to be one of Kampala’s biggest festive season events.
