Boda boda riders cautioned against lending off motorcycles for hire
Police have cautioned boda boda riders against hiring out their motorcycles to other people for self-drive purposes. Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, delivered the caution.
He said that they managed to arrest two members of a gang that is actively involved in the hiring of motorcycles for self-drive and ended up selling them.
“We managed to arrest Ssebuliba David, a 23-year-old resident of Kayabwe Town Council in Mpigi district. He had hired 2 boda bodas on self-drive from Kibalama Ali and Kiwanuka Joseph, also residents of Kayabwe Town Council,” he said.
Enanga further noted that the motorcycles stolen include a UFD 216C Bajaj Boxer Red and UFR 404G a TVS Star.
It has been established that the suspect would convince the boda boda riders by hiring their motorcycles for self-drive and then he would sell them off.
Enanga has called on the boda boda riders to be careful when they do such businesses because these are some of the challenges they face.
