Namuwongo Blazers vs City Oilers 9pm – Lugogo
The National Basketball League season comes to an end today with two crack games in the playoff finals both for the female and male leagues. After two of no basketball league because of COVID-19, this is the kind of climax that fans deserve.
The early kick-off, at 6 pm, at MTN Arena Lugogo, the rivalry between JKL Lady Dolphins and UCU Lady Canons will be renewed when the two meet in game seven of the playoff final.
The two lady sides have exhibited the kind of competition that was expected of them especially when JKL came from behind to level the series.
JKL looks set to disappoint UCU Canons just as they did in 2018 and 2019 when they dethroned the Mukono-based side as the queens of Uganda basketball.
The encounter remains a hard one to call and the team that will do the right things on the court will take the day.
In the men’s league, the story is quite different, in City Oilers, a dictator rose and the basketball fraternity stands behind Namuwongo Blazers to end this dictatorship, well you only disagree only if you are an Oilers fan.
And Oilers looked set to clinch their ninth title in a row when they went into game five leading the final series 3-1 only for Blazers to upstage them even when the game was forced into extra time.
Blazers came to work when they again upstage the Oilers in game six to set up game seven which promises to be a thriller.
Will way have new league champions in the National Basketball League – both women and men – well, the place to know that is the MTN Arena Lugogo.
