Discord is set to make messages from public servers searchable on Google and other search engines, raising new privacy considerations for users of the platform.
The feature will begin rolling out in December 2026, allowing some messages from public channels in Discoverable Servers to appear on server web pages and in online search results. Usernames and avatars will not appear alongside the indexed messages.
Starting November 16, 2026, every Discoverable Server will receive a web page that may include automatically generated summaries of public discussions.
The feature will be enabled by default for adult users in most regions, while users in the United Kingdom, European Union, Canada, Brazil, Australia and South Korea will have it turned off by default.
Users who do not want their messages indexed can opt out by going to User Settings Data & Privacy and turning off Show my message content from Discoverable channels on web pages.
Server administrators can also control which public channels are included or disable web presence through Server Settings → Web Presence.
Discord said private servers, direct messages and group direct messages will not be affected by the changes.
The update means users participating in public Discord discussions may need to review their privacy settings, as messages shared in discoverable channels could become accessible beyond the platform.
