The Uganda Law Society (ULS) Elections Committee has released a list of 14 candidates who will vie for the Association’s representative position on the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

The candidates, unveiled in a statement signed by Edward Mwase, Chairperson of the ULS Elections Committee, are set to campaign ahead of elections scheduled for December 17, 2024.

The nominees include Atom Podong Patricia (Dr.), Kakooza Anthony Conrad, Kusaasira Denis, Kanduho Frank Rwabosy, Karuhanga Ellison, Ocen Milton, Mbabaali Nabulime Mariam, Mbaziira Christopher (Dr.), Mukiibi Paul, Nabuuso Diana Katimbo, Omongole Richard, and Ruyondo Edison.

Earlier this month, the ULS passed a resolution to recall Ruth Ssebatindira and Norah Matovu Winyi from their positions as ULS representatives to the JSC following findings of irregular nominations.

In addition, ULS interim Honorary Secretary Eddie Nangulu announced an extraordinary meeting set for December 17, 2024, at Imperial Resort Beach.

Members will deliberate on the suspension of ULS Council members Philip Munaabi (Secretary General) and Geoffrey Turyamusiima (Central Region Council Member), elect new JSC nominees, and review previously referred books of accounts.

This meeting marks a pivotal moment for the ULS, as members aim to ensure accountability and proper representation within the Judicial Service Commission.
