Govt To Buy 180 Ambulances, Nabbanja Reveals

An ambulance is a vehicle equipped for taking sick or injured people to and from hospital, especially in emergencies.

The Prime Minister, Robinah Nabbanja, has revealed that plans are under way for government to procure 180 ambulances in 2024 to bridge the gap of ambulances in Uganda.

“In the FY 2024/2025, we plan to procure additional 180 Type B and Type C ambulances to fill the gaps. The government is committed to fill the gaps in ambulance vehicles of the constituency level by FY 2025/26,” said Nabbanja.

Nabanjja’s pronouncement followed concerns raised by Flavia Nabagabe (DWR Kassanda) who decried the appalling state of Kassanda Health Centre IV.

Nabagabe described the facility as sicker than the patients, saying that not only doesn’t the facility lack an ambulance for Emergency Health Services, but the male, female & children are all condemned to sharing the tiny cubicles in the general ward.

“Provide a bigger solar system for the health centre  because currently midwives are using torches for  delivering babies. Can we also be provided with funds to build a general ward that separates men, women and  children? Can Government provide an ambulance for  Kassanda Health Centre IV?,” Nabagabe made the requests.
