President Yoweri Museveni is scheduled to inaugurate the three-day retreat, which will bring together over 1,000 CEOs, including indigenous business leaders from Gulu city.

During a media briefing at the Uganda Media Centre, the Minister of State for Agriculture, Fred Kyakulaga, emphasized the strategic importance of this retreat in Gulu city.

“This gathering is not just a meeting of minds but a deliberate effort to turn Northern Uganda into a thriving economic zone,” said Kyakulaga.

“The focus will be on identifying innovative solutions and investment opportunities that are crucial for the region’s economic transformation.”

The retreat, which will run under the theme “Battle to Green Field: Transforming Northern Uganda into a Commercialized Production and Logistical Hub for Exports,” is designed to foster collaboration between the public and private sectors.

It will feature a series of insightful discussions, presentations, and networking sessions aimed at spurring development, in a region that has long been poised for growth but still lags behind in terms of infrastructure and investment.

“Northern Uganda has immense potential, and this retreat is the platform where we’ll discuss how to unlock that potential,” Kyakulaga added.

He pointed out that the event will attract a diverse range of stakeholders, including investors, policymakers, and entrepreneurs, all eager to explore how they can contribute to the region’s development.

The retreat’s agenda reflects a clear focus on sustainable growth, with sessions planned on topics such as commercial agriculture, infrastructure development, and export strategies.

The objective is to transform Northern Uganda into a key player in Uganda’s export-driven economy, leveraging its strategic location and natural resources.

“Gulu City is the ideal venue for this retreat because it represents both the challenges and opportunities of Northern Uganda,” said one of the event organizers.

“We are excited to see what ideas and partnerships will emerge from this gathering, as we work towards making this region a commercial and logistical hub.”

As anticipation builds, the 5th Bi-Annual CEO Retreat is expected to be a catalyst for a new era of economic growth in Northern Uganda.

With President Museveni’s endorsement and the participation of key industry leaders, the retreat is poised to lay the groundwork for significant investments and initiatives that will drive the region’s development forward.
