Museveni pledges industrial park for Ankole if re-elected

President promises major industrial investment to boost jobs and value addition in Ankole

NRM presidential candidate Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has pledged to establish a fully-fledged industrial park in the Ankole sub-region should he be re-elected in the upcoming elections. Museveni made the commitment while addressing supporters in Isingiro District, where he emphasized that industrialization remains central to Uganda’s long-term economic transformation.

According to Museveni, the proposed industrial park would create jobs for youth, boost value addition for local agricultural products, and attract investors to the region. He noted that Ankole already has the potential to support agro-processing industries, especially in dairy, beef, grains, and fruits, but lacks the industrial infrastructure to maximize those opportunities.

Museveni told the crowd that similar industrial parks in other regions have spurred local development, and that Ankole would receive the same priority under his next term. He added that government will provide land, extend utilities such as electricity and water, and work with private investors to operationalize the park.

He also urged residents to remain focused on wealth creation initiatives, including commercial farming, so that the region can fully benefit once the industrial park becomes operational.

The pledge comes as part of Museveni’s wider campaign message centered on stability, economic growth, and continued investment in regional development projects.
