NUP mobilisation Head Nyanzi Fred Ssentamu abducted in shocking incident

The NUP has called for calm, but has made it clear that its struggle for democracy and human rights will continue undeterred.

Nyanzi Fred Ssentamu, the Head of Mobilisation for the National Unity Platform (NUP), has been forcibly abducted by heavily armed men. Eyewitnesses report that Ssentamu was seized at gunpoint near Kubbiri Roundabout and taken away in a drone to an unknown location.

The shocking abduction has sent ripples through the opposition, with many condemning it as an overt display of state-sponsored intimidation. NUP leader Robert Kyagulanyi, known as Bobi Wine, swiftly condemned the act, vowing that the party would not be silenced.

“This marks a dangerous escalation of the regime’s violence, but we will not be intimidated,” Bobi Wine said. “We demand the immediate release of our comrade, Nyanzi Fred Ssentamu. The government may think it can quell our resistance through force, but we will persist in our fight for the rights and freedom of our people.”

The incident has ignited widespread outrage, with Ugandans taking to social media to voice their condemnation and demand Ssentamu’s safe return.

The NUP has called for calm, but has made it clear that its struggle for democracy and human rights will continue undeterred.

As the search for Ssentamu intensifies, the international community is urged to address Uganda’s worsening human rights climate and hold the government accountable for its actions.
