NUP’s Mityana Municipality MP, Francis Zaake, in trouble again
Zaake was informing the House on the recent abduction of citizens in the central region most of whom he said are opposition supporters.
Mityana Municipality MP, Francis Zaake, has been referred to the Committee on Rules, Privileges and Discipline for misconduct during Tuesday afternoon’s Plenary Sitting chaired by Deputy Speaker, Thomas Tayebwa.
Zaake was informing the House on the recent abduction of citizens in the central region most of whom he said are opposition supporters.
Citing the arrest of Joseph Kabuleta yesterday and that of Bobi Wine’s bodyguard, Jamsheed Kavuma, 24 days ago, Zaake said the abduction of citizens by armed men has reached crisis levels.
He added that this month alone, hundreds of youths have been abducted and disappeared; not to be seen again since.
While Zaake was still presenting, Tayebwa interjected asking Zaake to give him a minute. Zaake insisted, asking that the Deputy Speaker allows him to finish with his submission.
This seemed to rile Tayebwa who uncharacteristically suspended the house for five minutes.
When the house reconvened, Tayebwa went on a rant, lamenting and dissuading MPs not to blackmail the House.
He said he will not allow members to bring drama into the House.
He warned that if any member wanted to do drama, they can go to their constituency or to the neighbouring National Theater.
Thereafter, he ruled and referred Zaake to the disciplinary committee.
