Nurses encouraged embracing continuous professional development
Emerging and reemerging diseases affecting humans have made the health sector dynamic, as scientists strive to innovate treatments.

The Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council has urged their members to embrace continuous professional development in order to be up to date with innovations in treatments and also improve patient care.
This call comes at a time when there are many emerging diseases with innovations in disease management.
Emerging and reemerging diseases affecting humans have made the health sector dynamic, as scientists strive to innovate treatments.
It is for this reason that the Registrar of Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC), Nimwesiga Christine, has encouraged nurses and midwives to embrace continuous professional development.
“Ugandans in the diaspora are now collaborating with local health partners to make a contribution to improve health care back home. You should therefore embrace continuous professional development amidst such collaborations,” she said.
National Healthcare Conferences Uganda, a platform for knowledge sharing for Nurses and Midwives, in partnership with Midwife Community Transformation, has also embarked on training nurses and midwives in leadership skills to improve the quality of services offered by nurses.
“Some of the nurses who were trained through virtual simulated placement leadership development programme now they can admit that they have improved on their skills,” said Dr. Rose Nanyonga the Strategic advisor National Health Care conferences Uganda (NHCC)
However, much emphasis is now being put on prevention and disease control, the health sector is encouraged to embrace technology to deliver health information to the population.
