Officer investigating a murder case denied access to govt cameras
Aiso was allegedly murdered in January 2021, and her body was dumped in a septic tank at their matrimonial home in Munyonyo Makindye division, Kampala district.
A police officer investigating the murder of Immaculate Aiso, the wife of Francis Onebe, proprietor of Pentagon Security Company, has told the court that his efforts to retrieve video footage from government-owned security cameras located at the crime scene were unsuccessful. He didn’t elaborate on why he failed.
The investigating officer, Jacob Okello, was reacting to queries from the defence lawyer, Patrick Kasumba, who demanded to know why all cameras in the area, including the government cameras, were not considered during the investigation.
Part of the evidence presented in court includes video footage extracted from a camera at Gaz petrol station and a nearby church showing a woman identified as Aiso walking past the fuel station and the church before crossing a busy road.
Aiso was allegedly murdered in January 2021, and her body was dumped in a septic tank at their matrimonial home in Munyonyo Makindye division, Kampala district.
Her husband, Onebe, and his security guard, Bonny Oriekot, are suspects in the case. They are now, through their lawyer Patrick Kasumba, raising concerns regarding how the investigations were carried out including denying investigators access to critical evidence.
Court records reveal that a certain Abasa Gerald, who claimed to be involved in the murder, accused Charles Okello and businessman Brian Kwikiriza of being part of the plot.
According to Abasa, Okello had given them Shs150 million to execute the deal. They electrocuted Aiso before body was taken to her home.”
The judge, Michael Elubu, adjourned the matter to 14th August, 2023, for further cross-examination of Charles Okello regarding Abasa’s statement.
