Police urge public cooperation for a safe festive season
With these measures in place, the Uganda Police Force remains dedicated to providing a safe and secure environment for everyone to enjoy the festive season.
The Uganda Police Force has intensified measures to ensure public safety during the festive season, a period often marked by increased criminal activities such as theft, burglaries, and traffic accidents.
Police Spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma reassured the public of the police’s preparedness to handle any challenges.
“We have increased our patrols and surveillance, particularly in crowded places like markets, shopping centers, and entertainment venues,” he said.
“We also urge motorists to exercise caution and adhere to traffic rules to prevent accidents.”
As part of the safety measures, the police have issued strict guidelines for those planning to display fireworks during the celebrations. Kituuma warned that violators would face legal action.
“Anyone planning to display fireworks must first obtain permission from the Inspector General of Police,” he stated.
“Fireworks can be hazardous if mishandled, and we urge everyone to exercise caution.”
The public has also been urged to remain vigilant about their personal belongings, especially in crowded areas.
“Be mindful of your belongings and report any suspicious individuals or activities to the police immediately,” Kituuma advised.
The police will conduct regular patrols and establish checkpoints to ensure adherence to traffic rules and safety guidelines.
“We will maintain a strong presence to ensure compliance and deter criminal activities,” Kituuma said. “We encourage everyone to cooperate with law enforcement.”
The police also reminded the public to utilize emergency services, including the 999 hotline, to report incidents or suspicious activities. “We are committed to responding promptly to emergencies,” Kituuma added.
With these measures in place, the Uganda Police Force remains dedicated to providing a safe and secure environment for everyone to enjoy the festive season.
“We urge the public to work with us and prioritize safety as we celebrate together,” Kituuma concluded.
