Seven students face murder for burning Kyamate Secondary School
The suspects will appear in court again on March 27th, 2023, to hear their charges.
Kyamate Secondary School in Ntungamo District went into flames after seven senior three students set it on fire. Now these students are being charged with over 180 offences including murder and arson.
The seven suspected students are Kanyesigye Odongo Odamal, Arinatwe Anthony, Tumwesigye Arnold, Arinaitwe Elijah, Asiimwe Joshua, Tumushabe Wilber, and Twesigye Lawrence.
These were remanded to Ntungamo prison and Kabale remand home respectively.
During their court appearance before Ntungamo grade one magistrate, Namubiru Mariam, the suspects were charged with murder, attempted murder, arson, and malicious damage.
The charges stem from an incident on February 26th, 2023, when the prime suspect, Tumushabe Wilber, and his friends caused the death of a student named Atukwase Bonus.
