Six LDU officers arrested for robbing businessman

Several investigations have been carried out to curb rogue civilians and police officers involved in staging fake roadblocks, police has said.

Police arrested six Local Defense Unit (LDU) officers following their involvement in a robbery which they carried out after staging a roadblock at Kyoja swamp in Namusera parish, Wakiso Sub County in Wakiso district.

Several investigations have been carried out to curb rogue civilians and police officers involved in staging fake roadblocks, police has said.

Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, said one businessman called George Turahabwa was stopped by people disguised in military attires. When he stopped, they robbed him of an anticipated amount of cash and a phone. He was returning home.

With the aid of police K9 dogs, police managed to find the robbers at Namusera army detach in Wakiso Sub County, Wakiso district. “Our police teams were informed at Wakiso division police headquarters at 10:45 pm”

“We responded with K9 dogs which tracked the suspects up to Namusera army detach. As a result, 6 suspects who are LDU officers were arrested and charged with robbery,” Enanga said.

Among the suspects arrested include Ayume Saidi, Oroboro Julius, Aguma Mathew, Adiya Elikal, Ntambala Steven, and Luyima Siraj.

Police together with the military have ensured to align the suspects in the military court martial, to be punished according to their laws.
