Speaker calls for adherence to Ebola SOPs as parliament resumes
According to the ministry of health, the country registered 2 cases on Monday, 128 cumulative cases, 34 confirmed dead and 40 people have recovered from the deadly disease.
The Speaker of Parliament, Anita Annet Among, has called upon Members of Parliament to observe the necessary measures to keep Ebola far away from the August house as they resume plenary on Tuesday.
The speaker has reminded the legislators that the commencement of the parliamentary sittings at a time the country is grappling with the deadly Ebola Virus Disease (Sudan variant) in mid-September in Mubende district.

Tight order paper
Parliament resumes its sittings after recess. It will start off with a Statement by the Minister of Health on the progress in combating the Ebola outbreak in the Country.
Currently, the rising cases of Ebola in the country is fueling fear of a possible lockdown.
According to the order paper, other issues to be discussed include the request by the government to borrow a Shs1.7 trillion loan from Standard Chartered Bank to finance the country’s development and infrastructure budget for the current financial year.
In addition, the chairperson of the human rights committee, Fox Odoi, will present a motion of adoption of the report on human rights on the 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th and 25th annual reports of the Uganda human rights commission for the year 2018 to 2021.
Among other key issues, the house will discuss include a motion of the report on the committee on physical infrastructure, on the delayed payment of contractors hired by Uganda National roads authority (UNRA), which will be presented by the chairperson committee on physical infrastructure Karubanga David.
