Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) in the June Coffee Report released on Thursday, 14th July 2022 says Uganda exported 6.26 million bags of coffee in the FY 2021/22 worth US$ 862.28 million.
This saw a three percent increase from the 6.08 million bags worth US$ 559.16 million for the FY 2020/21. According to UCDA, this was a remarkable performance given the fact that in the last financial year, the country was hit by COVID-19 and drought that affected production.
For the month of June 2022, Uganda’s coffee exports amounted to 53 036 50kilo bags of coffee valued at US$83.79 million.
Robusta exports accounted for 84% of total exports higher than 77% in May 2022. Arabica exports increased by 62.77%, and it fetched an average price of US$ 4.41 per kilo.

Coffee is Uganda’s top export earner and the coffee sector has contributed over 6.76% of the total earnings from the exports and this contributes highly to the GDP of the country.
