UNEB Directs schools to display 2026 candidates’ registers for verification
The board said the registers must be displayed in a visible place at schools and examination centres, as well as at district headquarters, in line with the UNEB Act, Cap 259. The display period started on 7th August and will run until 7th October 2026.
The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has directed Heads of Examination Centres to display registers of candidates for the 2026 national examinations to allow students, parents, and guardians to verify registration details.
In a press statement issued on 27th August 2026, UNEB said the exercise is aimed at confirming candidates’ registration status and ensuring that personal information submitted to the board is accurate before the examination period.
The board said the registers must be displayed in a visible place at schools and examination centres, as well as at district headquarters, in line with the UNEB Act, Cap 259. The display period started on 7th August and will run until 7th October 2026.
UNEB urged parents and guardians of candidates to check the registers and confirm that their children are properly registered to avoid cases of students being left out of examinations due to registration errors.
Candidates studying in schools without UNEB centre status have also been advised to identify the centres where they were registered and verify their details.
The examination body further asked schools, parents and candidates to carefully check details including index numbers, names, dates of birth, gender, photographs and registered subjects, especially for Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) candidates.
UNEB Executive Director Dan Odongo said schools should report any errors in candidates’ biodata or photographs within the given period for correction. Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) adjustments should be submitted through the UNEB portal, while UCE and UACE corrections require a formal request letter accompanied by supporting documents such as National Identification Cards or birth certificates.
The board also reminded candidates and parents that they can confirm registration status through SMS by typing Reg, leaving a space, adding the full index number, and sending it to 6600.
UNEB encouraged all stakeholders to participate in the verification process to ensure that the information submitted is accurate ahead of the 2026 examinations.
