Victoria University partners with Himilo University to launch postgraduate programs

Victoria University Kampala has entered a landmark partnership with Somalia’s Himilo University, marking a significant milestone in regional higher education.
This collaboration, which was formalized last week at Victoria University’s main campus in Kampala, paves the way for the introduction of joint postgraduate programs tailored to meet critical academic and professional needs across various disciplines.
The partnership combines Victoria University’s academic expertise and resources with Himilo University’s local infrastructure and contextual understanding. Together, they aim to deliver globally competitive education that addresses the dynamic demands of today’s professional world while remaining accessible to students in Somalia and the region.
The partnership will focus on three faculties—Health Sciences, Science and Technology, and Humanities and Social Sciences—offering a total of 11 postgraduate programs designed to equip students with specialized skills for a competitive global environment.

Speaking at the launch, Prof. Lawrence Muganga, Vice Chancellor of Victoria University, described the collaboration as a transformational step in delivering quality education across Africa.
“This partnership underscores our commitment to providing transformative education and extending our reach beyond borders,” Prof. Muganga stated. “Together with Himilo University, we are poised to empower students with the skills and knowledge to excel in today’s competitive world.”
On his part, Dr. Abdikarin Adan Hussein, Rector of Himilo University, expressed enthusiasm about the benefits for Somali students.
