Education is far more than just passing examinations; it is a comprehensive preparation for life itself. This was the resounding message from Dr. Fabian Kasi, Managing Director of Centenary Bank, during his keynote speech at the Financial Literacy Conference, which marked the close of the 2025 Kampala Archdiocese Education Week at St. Maria Goretti SS, Katende.

Dr. Kasi lauded the breadth of activities undertaken throughout the Education Week, emphasizing their alignment with Centenary Bank’s core values of community empowerment. “We are deeply encouraged by the diverse activities that have formed part of this year’s Education Week; from the environmental protection, nurturance to waste management and disposal, leadership training for prefects and today’s financial literacy conference,” he stated. “These activities align perfectly with Centenary Bank’s own values of empowering communities. We believe that education is not just about passing exams, but also preparing learners for life.”

Highlighting Centenary Bank’s robust Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, Dr. Kasi detailed the myriad ways the bank has supported the Archdiocese and its educational endeavors. “We have supported the Archdiocese with financial literacy training, school projects like construction, furniture, solar, textbooks, to mention but a few,” he explained. “We have planted trees, given out water tanks, dustbins, supported health awareness events and media publicity, donated cancer testing kits, mattresses, among others. This is part of our corporate social responsibility.”

Shifting focus to personal well-being and future planning, Dr. Kasi offered insightful reflections on retirement. He posited that true happiness in retirement is a result of meticulous preparation, enabling financial freedom, freedom of choice, and the establishment of strong safety nets. He stressed that “true wealth” transcends mere monetary accumulation, encompassing physical well-being, the luxury of time to live freely, and cultivating meaningful relationships imbued with a sense of purpose. The bank, he assured attendees, stands ready to support teachers and other members of the community on this vital journey towards securing a holistic and fulfilling future.

Dr. Kasi’s address served as a powerful reminder that education is a lifelong journey of preparation, fostering not only academic prowess but also equipping individuals with the tools for financial stability, personal well-being, and meaningful existence. Centenary Bank, through its continued partnership with educational institutions, reaffirms its dedication to nurturing well-rounded citizens prepared for all facets of life.
