6,500 Serere students graduate from patriotism training programme
The students graduated during a pass-out ceremony held at the Serere District Local Government Headquarters (Boma Grounds), presided over by a government official who commended school leaders and district authorities for mobilising the programme.
More than 6,500 students from over 33 schools in Serere District have completed a two-week patriotism and ideological training programme aimed at promoting values, discipline and national consciousness among learners.
The students graduated during a pass-out ceremony held at the Serere District Local Government Headquarters (Boma Grounds), presided over by a government official who commended school leaders and district authorities for mobilising the programme.
Addressing the graduates, the official urged the girl child to embrace the message of “Protecting the Gains” by safeguarding their own future through education and responsible choices.
He encouraged female students to remain focused on their studies, avoid early sexual relationships and resist influences from individuals who may distract them from achieving their academic goals.
He praised Serere’s political, technical and education leaders for their unity and teamwork, saying their efforts, alongside the commitment of school administrators, enabled thousands of students to participate in the training.
The ceremony ended with local leaders presenting a turkey and a sack of groundnuts as a gesture of appreciation. In response, the official donated boxes of sanitary pads to support girls and encourage them to remain in school with dignity and confidence.
