Baryomunsi’s radio station manager filmed beating female staff arrested

According to ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Police spokesperson, the incident took place at Kanungu Fm radio station premises.

The Police in Kanungu district have arrested the 91.5 Kanungu FM Radio station manager, Nelson Twinamatsiko, for assaulting a female staffer.

Kanungu FM is owned by Dr Chris Baryomunisi, the Minister for ICT and National Guidance.

Twinamatsiko’s arrest follows a viral video circulating on different social media platforms where he was seen roughing up his co-worker Anitah Tumuramye aka Anitah Roz.

According to ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Police spokesperson, the incident took place at Kanungu Fm radio station premises.

Maate said that on 26th January 2023, at around 6 PM, at Kanungu FM Radio station, Tumuramye was assaulted by the manager when she had gone to demand her UGX40, 000 commission from the latter’s office.

The victim immediately reported the matter to the Police from where her statements were recorded, the scene of crime visited and documented.

Further Investigations were carried out and Twinamatsiko was summoned and appeared today morning, 1st February 2023, his statement was recorded and was detained pending court.

Maate notes that a case file has since been completed and forwarded to RSA with a charge sheet for further management and a statement on assault has since been recorded at Kanungu CPS under reference number CRB 094/2023.
