Brig Gen Isoke urges new Anti-Corruption Ambassadors to champion integrity
Brig Gen Isoke made the remarks while delivering a keynote address at the Anti-Corruption trainees certification ceremony held at Hotel Africana, organized by the Anti-Corruption Coalition Uganda (ACCU).
The Head of the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SHACU), Brig Gen Henry Isoke, has urged newly certified anti-corruption trainees to uphold integrity and use their knowledge to fight corruption in their communities.
Brig Gen Isoke made the remarks while delivering a keynote address at the Anti-Corruption Trainees Certification Ceremony held at Hotel Africana, organized by the Anti-Corruption Coalition Uganda (ACCU).
He congratulated ACCU for organizing the training programme and praised participants for committing themselves to promoting transparency, accountability and responsible citizenship.
He said the ceremony was not only about awarding certificates but also celebrating citizens dedicated to building a culture of integrity.
Brig Gen Isoke warned that corruption remains a major obstacle to Uganda’s socio-economic development, as it diverts public resources, weakens institutions and limits citizens’ access to essential services.
He encouraged the graduates to reject corrupt practices and use their skills to promote ethical leadership and positive change. He also revealed plans to advocate for anti-corruption and integrity training to become a mandatory requirement for public servants before taking office.
The SHACU boss called for stronger cooperation between government institutions, civil society, development partners and citizens in tackling corruption, urging Ugandans to “See Something, Say Something” because corruption thrives when people remain silent.
ACCU Executive Director Marlon Agaba congratulated the graduates and appreciated the efforts of accountability institutions, including SHACU, the Inspectorate of Government and the Uganda Police Force, in fighting corruption.
Agaba said the training was designed to equip citizens, especially young people, with knowledge and practical skills to fulfil their constitutional responsibility of combating corruption.
The ceremony was also attended by Special Presidential Assistant on Anti-Corruption, Rebecca Atwine.
