Bukimbiri County MP collapses in Parliament

Kwizera of the National Resistance Movement last month won a by-election in Bukimbiri after getting 12, 214 votes.

Bukimbiri County East Member of Parliament, Eddie Kwizera Wa-Gahungu, has collapsed in parliament sending other lawmakers into a stampede Thursday morning. The MPs were in the house to elect Uganda’s representative to the East African Legislative Assembly.

Parliament is yet to comment on the incident and it remains unknown what caused Kwizera’s ailment. The MP looked to be in shape when he walked into the August house but a change in his health has left Ugandans bewildered especially now that the country is facing the Ebola outbreak.

Kwizera of the National Resistance Movement last month won a by-election in Bukimbiri after getting 12, 214 votes. His closest rival Asgario Turyagyenda (Independent) got 10, 105 to come second while in third place was James Owebeyi (FDC) with 280 votes.
