Burundian shot dead in Kampala
The deceased allegedly had a disagreement with the security guard when he attempted to access the premises to talk to his boss and was pushed away.
Police at Old Kampala is currently investigating the murder of Itangishaka Christian, a 30-year-old Burundian National and resident of Bunamwaya.
His death, according to Police, follows an incident which occurred on the 13th of February 2023 at about 8 pm at Roza Market, which is located in Muzana Zone, Kisenyi 1 parish, Central Division, Kampala City.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, noted that the deceased allegedly had a disagreement with the newly deployed security guard when he attempted to access the premises to talk to his boss and was pushed away.
This prompted Muhoozi Matthias, the security guard from Blue Water Services, to cork his gun and a scuffle ensued after Christian attempted to grab the corked gun.
“A bystander intervened and managed to separate the two but the deceased walked away in the opposite direction. Unfortunately, Muhoozi shot Christian from behind, leading to his untimely death,” he said.
Upon receiving the report, the Police managed to respond at the scene where they found Christian lying in a pool of blood.
Owoyesigyire added that unfortunately, Christian had already succumbed to his injuries and his body was conveyed to the City Mortuary Mulago for postmortem.
He noted that Muhoozi later handed himself over to his supervisor who brought him to Old Kampala Police station where he is currently detained.
