As Uganda intensifies preparation for the forthcoming African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Algeria, Uganda Cranes players have been trained to sing the national anthem.

The continental tournament will kickoff on 13th January 2023. It is for players who currently don’t play their club football outside of their country of birth.

This means that only players who play in the local league were summoned and are preparing for the trip to Algeria.

Ugandan national anthem, Oh Uganda, Land of Beauty, is a musical piece that Ugandans sing with pride especially at school, social and political events.

However, many Ugandans are challenged to sing all the three stanzas because they didn’t grasp the lyrics and musical notes.

Therefore, FUFA brought in music tutors to help the players and officials making the Algeria trip grasp the national anthem.

The Cranes fly out of the country on 1st January 2023 for build up matches in Tunisia before connecting to Algeria.

Recently, the team preparing for CHAN had an anti-doping education session.

Topics discussed included the anti-doping code, prohibited list of substance and methods, Therapeutic Use Exemptions, Dangers and Consequences of doping, the doping control process and rights plus responsibilities of athletes.

On 20th December, Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin Sredojevic aka Micho released a provisional squad for the forthcoming CHAN.

Micho named a squad of 35 players that embarked on preparations for the biennial tournament slated to take place between 13th January to 4th February next year in Algeria.

The Cranes were placed in group B that has two time winners Democratic Republic of Congo, Senegal and Ivory Coast.
