Christian Atsu’s remains arrive in Ghana for burial

After 12 days of searching by rescuers, his body was confirmed to have been recovered Saturday morning.

The remains of Ghanaian footballer Christian Atsu arrived in Ghana from Turkey on Saturday evening.

The body of the former Black Stars player was received by relatives and football officials after a Turkish Airlines plane carrying the body arrived at Kotoka International Airport.

Atsu was reported missing in the immediate aftermath of the February 6 earthquake that rocked Turkey and Syria.

After 12 days of searching by rescuers, his body was confirmed to have been recovered Saturday morning.

Meanwhile, tributes have poured in from all over the world, including from Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and several of Atsu’s former clubs.
