Coca-Cola Brings Smiles to Namayiba Travelers.

“This is more than just a drink it’s a memory,” said Jimmy Ogwal, Manager of Mega Buses at Namayiba.

It was all joy and refreshment at Namayiba Bus Terminal this morning as Coca-Cola lit up the busy park with its popular “Share a Coke” campaign, giving travelers personalized soda bottles and a moment of connection on their journeys.

In a colorful activation that saw Coca-Cola replace its iconic logo with popular names, passengers boarding buses to Eastern Uganda including Jinja, Mbale, Iganga, and Soroti were treated to free cold sodas, with some lucky travelers receiving bottles bearing their names or those of their loved ones.

“This is more than just a drink it’s a memory,” said Jimmy Ogwal, Manager of Mega Buses at Namayiba. “Coca-Cola has touched hearts today. I’ve seen travelers smile, laugh, and even take selfies with their name-branded bottles. It’s a small gesture, but it means a lot.”

Among the excited travelers was Susan Achen, heading to Soroti for a family visit. “I couldn’t believe it when I saw a bottle with ‘Susan’ on it. It felt like Coca-Cola knew I was traveling today. It made my morning so much brighter.”

Martin Waiswa, a university student traveling to Iganga, echoed the sentiment. “I’ve never seen my name on a soda bottle before. I’m keeping this as a souvenir and I’ve taken like five photos with it already!”

For Grace Nabirye, the moment was deeply personal. “I got a bottle with my late mother’s name, ‘Annet.’ That really touched me. I felt like she was with me on this trip. Coca-Cola truly brought back warm memories.”

Coca-Cola staff were seen distributing bottles, engaging with travelers, and encouraging them to share moments online. The campaign, first launched globally in 2011, continues to stir emotional connections by making the beverage personal and shareable.

Mr. Ogwal praised the campaign’s timing. “With many people traveling upcountry, this was a perfect way to connect with Ugandans from all walks of life. Coca-Cola knows how to reach the people right where they are.”

As buses revved up and travelers departed, the message was clear: a bottle of Coke can be more than a refreshment. It can be a smile, a memory, or even a companion on the road.
