Coffee seedling suppliers’ payment dispute resolved, says Balaam Barugahara

Balaam said President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, through State House Comptroller Jane Barekye, will ensure that the suppliers are fully paid on Wednesday morning.

The dispute involving coffee seedling suppliers in Masaka has been resolved, according to Presidential Advisor on Media Affairs Barugahara Balaam Ateenyi.

Balaam said President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, through State House Comptroller Jane Barekye, will ensure that the suppliers are fully paid on Wednesday morning.

He noted that the matter appeared to have been amplified by political differences and pressure faced by coffee seedling operators.

Balaam clarified that the contract to supply coffee seedlings was awarded to Masaka businessman Chairman Bulegeya, adding that Hon. Justine Namere only witnessed the arrangement and was not a contracting party with the suppliers.

His statement follows allegations raised by a coffee supplier accusing Namere of failing to pay for coffee seedlings worth millions of shillings during her campaign activities.

Balaam thanked the public for their attention as efforts were made to resolve the matter.
