Dettol, Ambulex partner to enhance hygiene in emergency medical response

The integration of hygiene solutions into emergency care will help mitigate the spread of infectious diseases, including bacterial infections and respiratory illnesses.

Kenya’s leading hygiene brand, Dettol, has partnered with Ambulex, a premier emergency healthcare provider, to enhance hygiene standards in emergency medical care.

This collaboration integrates Dettol’s antiseptic liquid, soap and handwashing solutions into Ambulex’s emergency response services to prevent infections, reduce disease transmission, and maintain the highest hygiene standards in every ambulance call.

Dettol will offer discounted hygiene products for use in ambulances, strengthening Ambulex’s ability to deliver holistic healthcare solutions by combining emergency medical services with preventive health measures.

Dettol’s expertise in hygiene and Ambulex’s emergency response capabilities create a powerful synergy that strengthens healthcare access and infection prevention efforts.

“Ambulances transport critically ill or injured patients, making hygiene essential to prevent infections. Poor hygiene in emergency medical settings can lead to cross-contamination, hospital-acquired infections, and compromised patient safety,” said Mustapha Bugaje, Country Manager, Dettol Kenya.

“Hygiene is a global health priority, aligning with WHO guidelines on infection prevention in healthcare settings. Dettol’s partnership with Ambulex is a significant milestone in ensuring families and vulnerable populations receive not just lifesaving medical care, but also critical hygiene support to prevent infections.”

The integration of hygiene solutions into emergency care will help mitigate the spread of infectious diseases, including bacterial infections and respiratory illnesses.

“With Dettol’s commitment to protection and Ambulex’s focus on emergency response, we are ensuring that every ambulance call is met with a well-equipped, well-trained, and highly responsive team,” said Judith Oketch, Co-founder and CEO of Ambulex Solutions Limited.

“When emergencies strike—whether it’s a mother in distress, a workplace injury, or a sick child in the middle of the night—people need more than just an ambulance; they need a reliable system they can trust. Today, we are launching with 50 branded ambulances, but this is just the beginning. Our vision is a Kenya where emergency care is so efficient that response times are measured in minutes, ensuring no one is left behind.”

Harnessing its technology and extensive network, Ambulex will also drive public awareness on the link between hygiene and overall health, reinforcing behavior change for long-term impact.

The collaboration also unlocks new opportunities for innovation, education, and community engagement, reinforcing a shared vision of a safer, healthier Kenya.

The partnership extends beyond emergency response to community education on hygiene, sanitation, and first aid. Through joint awareness campaigns, hygiene education programs, and emergency preparedness training, Dettol and Ambulex will empower communities with life-saving knowledge and resources.

This initiative aligns with government health regulations and supports the Kenya Emergency Medical Care Policy 2020-2030, which requires the integration of emergency medical services with broader health and safety systems.

Additionally, the partnership contributes to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by equipping communities with knowledge to reduce infection risks in emergency medical settings.

This, marks a significant step toward transforming emergency medical care in Kenya, ensuring that hygiene and healthcare go hand in hand to save lives and promote public health.
