Doctor arrested for taking Shs148, 000 bribe

Soroti Regional Hospital Principal Hospital Administrator, Benzy Omoya, said that the suspect was soliciting money from the outpatient department belonging to diabetes patients.

A third-year student of Soroti University has been arrested on allegations of soliciting a bribe of Shs148, 000 from diabetic patients, Teso News Network reports, quoting Soroti Regional Hospital management.

Dr Cryton Mutambi, a medical student at Soroti University, was arrested on Thursday morning and detained at Soroti Central Police Station as a tip-off from patients at the outpatient department of Soroti Hospital where he had been deployed to do the internship.

Soroti Central Police Station Police Commander, Buyinza Twaha, confirmed the arrest and said investigations were ongoing.
