Draws for Stanchart Road to Anfield held ahead of showdown
A competent and dedicated technical team that will oversee the running of the tournament and ensure that set standards are perfectly met has been assembled.
Standard Chartered Bank Thursday held draws for the 29 teams participating in the 2023 Standard Chartered Cup (Road to Anfield) tournament at their Standard Chartered Headquarters.
The 2023 Standard Chartered Cup Tournament is a one-day, 10 minute, five-a-side (with two substitutes), mini futsal tournament scheduled to take place this Saturday, 7th October 2023 at KCCA grounds starting at 7:00am.
Charmar News has learnt that the participating teams have been divided into 6 groups with each group being made up of 5 teams. Below are the various Groups:
GROUP A
Multi Choice Ug. Ltd, Roofings Limited, Tororo Cement Ltd, Cheap General Hardware and Letshego Ug. Ltd.
GROUP B
UAP Old Mutual Ltd, Bukedde, Nile Breweries Ltd, MTN Mobile Money 1 and Nation Media Group 2.
GROUP C
New Vision, Steel & Tube Ltd, Nation Media Group 1, Cipla Quality Chemicals and Uganda Breweries Ltd.
GROUP D
CFAO Motors Ug Ltd, John Barnes, Mildmay Uganda, Seroma Ltd and Sanlam Uganda.
GROUP E
Uganda Baati Ltd, Hardware World, MTN Mobile Money 2, City Oil and Malaria Consortium
GROUP F
Nakasero Hospital, Ntake Bakery Co. Ltd, Hima Cement, BRAC Uganda Ltd and Roofing Rolling Mills.
While speaking to the participants Joel Cornerious Kivumbi, the Edgars Youth Programme Public Relations Manager and Technical Committee Chairperson, said they have assembled a diligent, competent and dedicated technical team that will oversee the running of the tournament and ensure that set standards are perfectly met.
John Mwesigye the Chief Operations Officer at Standard Chartered and Chairman Organizing committee for the SC Cup, said this year the stakes are higher. “We are honoured to have a Liverpool legend Steve McManaman join us and hand over the prizes to the winners of the tournament, among other activities.
We are confident that we will have a better organized tournament which is flawless and fair with the Edgars Youth Programme team handling the technical aspects of the tournament,” he said.
During the SC Cup tournament, the field layout will have 4 mini pitches of 40 x 30 metres and these shall be named after the current Liverpool Players: Pitch 1. Mohammed Salah, Pitch 2. Alisson Baker, Pitch 3. Virgil van Dijk, Pitch 4. Trent Alexander Arnold.
The Kick off time is scheduled for exactly 8:05am and expected to end at 4:30pm from which the winner will obtain a trophy and proceed to travel to UK – Anfield.
Prizes.
The SC Cup winning team will receive:
- a) A return economy class air ticket to and from Manchester Airport, United Kingdom, with return airport and on-ground transfers in Liverpool.
- b) 3 nights’ accommodation in Liverpool.
- c) Meals for the contingent members (breakfast, lunch and dinner) during their stay at Liverpool.
- d) A training session with an Liverpool FC (LFC) legend.
- e) Watch the Liverpool game live at Anfield
- f) Additional expenses not outlined in the itinerary such as laundry, overseas calls, mini bar and room service etc. shall be borne by the guest
- g) The winning team will receive a trophy as well as travel to Anfield.
