Female human rights activist stabs husband to death

On Heroes Day, 9th June 2022, Dr Joseph Etuk took to Facebook to pour out his unending love for his wife Francesca Amony. In the Facebook post, he attached two pictures, one of Francesca and another of him in a white sports shirt that had his wife’s name.

“In this life, I couldn’t as for more. You have been there for me through thick and thin. When I was sick, you slept in the hospital without a second thought, through my weaknesses, you stood by me and now, you carry my lovely son,” Etuk wrote on Facebook.

He continued: “May God bless you and grant you everything you ever wanted in this life. I will love you to my dying day Atuku. Friends, help me celebrate this hero. She is my Mother Bear. Happy Heroes Day wifie.”

In the loving social media message, Dr Etuk vowed to love his wife to his dying day, what he didn’t know is that it would be at the hands of this woman he has loved as a wife that his life would end five months later.

And Saturday, 29th October 2022, Ugandans received the news that Francesca, human rights activist and lawyer, had stabbed his husband, Dr Etuk, and he had died en route to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital.

According to Uganda Radio Network, Francesca, 34, is an ex-torture convict. She has since reported herself to the Lacor police post in Gulu City where the couple had a home.

It is said that the couple developed a misunderstanding at their home in Keyi ‘’A’’ Cell in Kabedpong Ward, Gulu city on Friday at around 11 pm. Francesca allegedly picked up a knife and stabbed Dr Etuk.

Dr Etuk was a medical doctor in Mbarara city while Francesca formerly worked as national secretary of the DP Women’s League.
