Former EC Boss Badru Kiggundu installed as Busitema University Chancellor
Veteran engineer and former EC Chair takes on new leadership role at one of Uganda’s fastest-growing public universities

Professor Badru Kiggundu, former Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, has been officially installed as the new Chancellor of Busitema University, marking a significant leadership transition at the public institution.
Kiggundu, a seasoned engineer and academic, takes over the university’s ceremonial leadership role with a mandate to guide strategic growth, strengthen research output, and support innovations across Busitema’s multi-campus system.
During the installation ceremony, university officials highlighted his long record of public service, technical expertise, and experience managing large national institutions. They expressed confidence that his leadership would elevate Busitema’s visibility and drive institutional reforms.
Kiggundu pledged to promote academic excellence, expand partnerships, and support the university’s mission of producing skilled graduates in engineering, agriculture, health sciences, education, and natural resources.
Busitema University, established in 2007, is one of Uganda’s youngest public universities, with campuses in Busia, Tororo, Mbale, Soroti, and Pallisa.
