How Egyptian Diplomat was rescued from kidnappers in Wakiso

In a high-stakes rescue operation, Ugandan authorities saved Muhammad Ali Abdul Amidu, an Egyptian diplomat and official at the Egyptian Embassy, who was abducted on November 8, 2024, by unidentified assailants along Zanna Entebbe Road.
The kidnappers took Amidu to an undisclosed location and demanded a $40,000 ransom, threatening to harm him if their demands weren’t met.
According to police spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma, the Ugandan police quickly mobilized, tracking the suspects and closely monitoring their movements. On November 13, 2024, around 2:00 PM, officers intercepted the kidnappers en route to Pearl Motel in Buloba, Wakiso District.
During the operation, one of the kidnappers was apprehended following a confrontation with the rescue team, and Amidu was freed unharmed. The kidnappers were using a Toyota Noah with registration number UAZ 247S, which was occupied by three individuals.
Currently, two suspects are in custody in connection with the kidnapping as investigations continue. Ugandan police have assured the public of their commitment to ensuring safety and security, emphasizing that they take incidents of this nature with utmost seriousness.
