Kabale holds women’s conference to promote gender equality and empowerment
The annual event, observed on 8 March, is being celebrated under the global theme, “Rights. Justice. Action. For All Women and Girls,” focusing on advancing women’s rights, justice, and equal opportunities.
Kabale District is hosting a Women’s Conference at UNITE University as part of belated celebrations to mark the 2026 International Women’s Day, which was not commemorated earlier in the year.
The annual event, observed on 8 March, is being celebrated under the global theme, “Rights. Justice. Action. For All Women and Girls,” focusing on advancing women’s rights, justice, and equal opportunities.
The conference has brought together political leaders, government officials, and community stakeholders to reflect on achievements made in promoting women’s empowerment and discuss strategies for strengthening gender equality and inclusive development in the district.
Among the participants are Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament Enid Origumisiriza, Ndorwa West MP Eliab Naturinda Mporera, Ndorwa East MP Protazio Begumisa, Kabale District LCV Chairperson Denis Nzeirwe, Resident District Commissioner Maj. Godfrey Katamba, Chief Administrative Officer Robert Mugabe, and other district leaders.
The discussions are expected to highlight challenges affecting women and identify practical solutions to enhance their participation in social, economic, and political development.
