Kumi’s Deputy RDC, Anthony Nseko, asks councillors to scrutinize district budget

Nseko said the budget conference allows stakeholders to give in their submissions about what the next Budget should consider.

Councillors in Kumi district have been asked to scrutinize the budget estimates in their sectoral committees in time for council approval.

This will enable the district to beat the deadline set by the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.

Budget approvals, when achieved in time, will enable quick service delivery to the people.

The advisory was recently made by the Deputy Resident District Commissioner for Kumi district Anthony Nseko.

He was presiding over the official closure of a two-day budget conference organized by Kumi district local government.

The meeting which took place in the district council chambers was attended by political leaders, technical, CSOs, religious leaders and the business community.

Nseko asked the councillors to consider pro-people interventions like PDM, production, health, education, water and business activities among others.

“For the realization of our budget during implementation, we need finances as you already know our national budget is financed from two sources – domestic and external financing,” Nseko said.

“We must strengthen and expand our domestic revenue and also avoid spending at the source where sub-counties have been victims and end up remitting very little local revenue,” Nseko advised.

Nseko said the budget conference allows stakeholders to give in their submissions about what the next Budget should consider.
