Lady Justice Batala assumes office as new IGG, pledges integrity and teamwork
She noted that she is banking on teamwork to propel the institution forward as far as the anti-corruption agenda is concerned.

On Monday, 17th November 2025, Lady Justice Naluzze Aisha Batala officially assumed office as the Inspector General of Government (IGG), marking the beginning of a new chapter in Uganda’s anti-corruption drive.
She arrived at the Inspectorate Headquarters to a warm reception from the Deputy Inspectors General of Government, Dr. Patricia Achan Okiria and Anne Twino Muhairwe, together with the Secretary to the Inspectorate, Mrs. Rose N. Kafeero. The IGG office extended heartfelt congratulations and officially welcomed her as she begins her tenure of service to the nation.
During her inaugural meeting with the management team inside the IGG boardroom, Justice Batala outlined the three pillars that will anchor her leadership: Integrity, Professionalism, and Teamwork. She emphasized that these values will guide the Inspectorate’s day-to-day operations and long-term vision.
Justice Batala highlighted teamwork as a critical driver for strengthening the institution’s role in advancing Uganda’s anti-corruption agenda. She called on the staff to work cohesively and with renewed commitment toward protecting public resources and promoting good governance.
She also expressed gratitude to the President of the Republic of Uganda, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, for entrusting her with the responsibility of heading the Inspectorate of Government.
Justice Batala’s appointment signals a renewed sense of purpose within the institution, with optimism that her leadership will inspire strengthened collaboration, heightened accountability, and a fresh momentum in the fight against corruption.
