Mbale RCC blames fire outbreak on security lax that arsonists exploited
The RCC Mbale also added that despite the terrible incident that has happened after 27days in this office as RCC, the residents in the area were very receptive ever since he assumed his duties.
The Resident City Commissioner of Mbale City John Rex Achira has confirmed that there were big gaps which resulted into the fire that easily gutted his office, burning furniture and lots of documents in the office.
In a security meeting conducted today, the RCC noted that the fire is believed to have been an arson, however, police and other security organs are conducting further investigations to assertain who was behind the incident.
Achira said that senior security officials and technical staff in Mbale City conducted a meeting, to discuss the cause of the fire that gutted his office.
He told this website that the fire which burnt his office yesterday, was started by unknown personnel, who broke one of the glass Windows and accessed his office.
“We realized that the deployment of the police officers at this area was not well supervised. So there’s need for police to strengthen there method of supervision of the officers who were deployed in this area. There have also never been CCTV cameras in this Offices,” he said.
He added that due to the boxing day festivities which were happening around the city yesterday, it was quite hard for any to realize that there was a fire burning at the Offices.
Achira affirmed that this gave lee wag to the arsonists, to burn the Offices without being caught or seen by any one.
“Then specifically that day on 26th, there were lots of celebrations, a lot of music coming from the grounds, and thats what also kept away most of the people who could have heard or seen the fire. And when i came to office i realized that no body had seen this fire,” he added.
When asked about the important document that could have got burnt in the office, Achira said it’s so fortunate that confidential documents are nevr kept in the office, however those burnt are from their corespondents.

He confirmed to this website that he has been assigned security officers by the RPC, to watch over any threats on his life.
