The Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation, Hon. Eng. Jonard Asiimwe Akiiki, has joined the Flobbeto Primary School community in Hoima City as the Chief Guest at the school’s Sports Day celebrations.

Hon. Asiimwe was warmly received by learners, teachers, parents, and invited guests as he officiated at the event, which brought together the school community to celebrate sportsmanship, talent, and holistic learner development.

The programme started with the inspection of a colourful learners’ parade, where pupils, accompanied by the UPDF Brass Band, displayed discipline, patriotism, teamwork, and national pride.

The Sports Day marked the grand finale of a month-long series of sporting and co-curricular competitions featuring football, netball, volleyball, chess, bicycle racing, athletics, and other activities designed to promote teamwork, resilience, and healthy competition among learners.

During the event, the minister participated in various activities, including class team competitions representing different countries, bicycle races, and other co-curricular engagements aimed at promoting physical fitness, leadership, discipline, and patriotism among pupils.

Hon. Asiimwe said such activities play a key role in nurturing well-rounded young people who are prepared to contribute positively to Uganda’s future.

The celebrations continued with learners, teachers, parents, and the wider school community joining together to recognise excellence, sportsmanship, and the importance of developing talents beyond the classroom.
