Muhoozi makes move on Kenya’s Ruto with apology tweet
In an attempt to make amends with the new Kenyan president William Ruto, Muhoozi, calling Ruto big brother, said he has never had a problem with the new Kenyan leader and was sorry.
President Yoweri Museveni’s son Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, an influential figure in the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF), Thursday again took to the social media platform Twitter to send out cryptic tweets about Rwanda, South Korea, North Korea, Tanzania and especially Kenya.
Muhoozi has been criticized for his reckless use of Twitter, a platform he uses to speak about matters many Ugandans say damage the image of the country and its relations with other countries like Kenya, Rwanda, Russia, Ukraine, Ethiopia and others.
Just recently, President Museveni was forced to come out and apologize to Kenya when Muhoozi tweeted that it wouldn’t take him not more than two weeks to capture Nairobi and topple the government in Kenya.
Dear Ugandans, the brotherly people of Kenya, and all East Africans. I greet all of you.
I ask our Kenyan brothers and sisters to forgive us for the tweets sent by General Muhoozi.Below is my full statement https://t.co/2xQjFNge2G pic.twitter.com/CmgnknFpUt

While Muhoozi’s supporters read it as a comic tweet, authorities in Kenya didn’t take it lightly. And yesterday, Muhoozi was finger-happy pressing his keyboard and tweeting about regional governments.
First, it was about the Tanzanian president attaching a photo of Samia Suluhu Hassan in military wear. He asked God to bless her. “My next visit is to my true Motherland! Tanzania!! I will be very happy to visit the land of my birth and salute the greatest woman in Africa! H.E. @SuluhuSamia!!”

Muhoozi was born in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania during the time his father, President Yoweri Museveni was living there as an exiled student at Dar es Salaam University.
Then, in an attempt to make amends with the new Kenyan president William Ruto, Muhoozi, calling Ruto big brother, said he has never had a problem with the new Kenyan leader and was sorry.
I have never had any problem with Afande Ruto. If I made a mistake anywhere, I ask him to forgive me as his young brother. Godbless East Africa! pic.twitter.com/5LuzVabLKz

In the many erratic tweets Muhoozi sent out on 3rd October, he castigated former Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta for not standing for the third term because he would easily win.
In the follow-up bizarre tweet, Muhoozi exhibited a total lack of respect for constitutionalism, rule of law and ridiculed Kenyans who have over the years aligned their politics on a strong constitution and democracy.
Haha! I love my Kenyan relatives. Constitution? Rule of law? You must be joking! For us there is only the Revolution and you will soon learn about it!

But after the erratic tweets backfired and got his father apologizing to Kenyans and Ruto, and Ruto having come over to Uganda for the 60th independence celebration, Muhoozi is coming clean.
In the latest tweet involving Kenya, Muhoozi apologizes to Ruto. “I have never had any problem with Afande Ruto. If I made a mistake anywhere, I ask him to forgive me as his young brother. Godbless East Africa!” he tweeted on Thursday.
My only problem with my beloved big brother is that he didn't stand for a third term. We would have won easily! pic.twitter.com/6fmsJSXkii

Muhoozi is highly regarded as the preferred successor of President Museveni who in 2026 when the country goes to vote to choose the next government will have ruled Uganda for fourty years.
And everything, the preparations within the First Family, the UPDF and the ruling party, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) point to a Muhoozi succession.
