President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni lauded Ms. Koko Rafanisa Kissa, an 84-year-old beneficiary of the Parish Development Model (PDM) in Sebei subregion, for her resilience and effective use of the funds.
“PDM is a starting point, a nucleus of the basket from which all people should benefit. I want to keep bringing more shs 100m per year,” President Museveni remarked during his visit to Ms. Kissa’s home in Aloman Parish, Kaptum Sub-County, Kween District.
Continuing his PDM and wealth creation performance assessment tour in Sebei Sub-Region, the President engaged with Ms. Kissa, who shared her success story.
She received Shs1,000,000 from the PDM in August 2023, which she used to acquire a cow and its calf for dairy production.
Ms. Kissa reported that her cow now produces four liters of milk daily, earning her 2,000 Ugandan Shillings per day. This income has improved her nutrition, enabled her to purchase cow feed, and meet her basic needs.
“This has been a game changer in my life. The boost in household nutrition has given me more strength to support my big family,” she said.
Expressing her gratitude, Ms. Kissa praised the government for supporting the elderly and ensuring peace and security in the region, which has allowed her to thrive.
She recounted how she lost her husband in 1977 due to civil unrest, leaving her to raise six children alone. Under the peace brought by the NRM government, she successfully raised her children, and her family has now grown to 40 members.
President Museveni commended Ms. Kissa for her perseverance and pledged further support. “I will give her extra support since she is 84 years old, which qualifies her to be my sister,” he said.
The President provided Ms. Kissa with Shs10 million to enhance her project and land to increase her household productivity and grow pasture for dairy. Additionally, he pledged to build her a decent house.
The event was attended by the Minister of State for Privatisation and Investment, Evelyn Anite, Members of Parliament, local leaders, and other dignitaries.
